Dependancy Injury Claim FAQ's

A person who was dependent on a person who has died as a result of a motor vehicle crash. You may be a wife, husband, defacto partner, child, parent, brother or sister of the person who died.

  • Funeral and headstone expenses
  • Loss of services, such as those provided by a parent to a child
  • Past lost of capacity to earn from date of crash to day of settlement of dependency claim.
  • An allowance will be made for future loss of capacity to earn from day of settlement.

For crashes occurring pre 15 November 2005, you must lodge a claim within one (1) year of the date of the person's death. For crashes occurring on or after 15 November 2005, You must lodge a claim within three (3) years of the date of the person's death.
