Safe Driving Hacks

While you can't control the weather or how other people drive, there are plenty of things you can do to be a safe driver.

Maintain your vehicle:
Regularly check your vehicle for problems that could affect your safety on the road. This includes tyre pressure, oil levels, brakes, lights, and windshield wipers. A well-maintained car is less likely to encounter unexpected issues. If you are going to tow a caravan, camper or trailer, also check its tyres, brake and lights before you leave home.

Plan your trip:
If you a driving somewhere unfamiliar, take the time to plan your journey. Have a look at maps before you head off, do a search online to find out how long it will take, set your destination if you have satellite navigation, and check if there are any road works or closures.

Follow the rules:
It sounds simple but not everyone is on the same page! Wear your seatbelt, stick to speed limits, traffic signals, and road signs.

Our partner the Road Safety Commission provides easy-to-understand road rules for all drivers on  WA roads. Use the link below to see their resources including games and  manuals.
