Other Insurances

The Insurance Commission manages several self-insurance and claims functions on behalf of the State Government. This includes the Police (Medical and Other Expenses for Former Officers) Scheme.

The Insurance Commission no longer issues industrial disease/dust disease insurance policies to employers in the mining sector.  Under the new Workers Compensation and Injury Management Act 2023 (the Act), from 1 July 2024 cover for industrial diseases/dust diseases will now be provided under a Workers Compensation insurance policy.

Please note that the Industrial Disease insurance policies issued by the Insurance Commission prior to 1 July 2024 will continue to respond to claims that arise from periods of employment that are covered by these insurance policies.
