Spinal cord injuries are the second most common type of catastrophic injury, making up more than 20 per cent of participants in the Catastrophic Injuries Support Scheme.

In 2025, we entered  a three-year partnership with SpinalCure Australia, a non-profit organisation undertaking innovative research into spinal cord injuries.

The partnership has helped establish a clinical trial site in Perth to test and develop neurostimulation therapies for people paralysed by spinal cord injuries. The partnership also supports participants from remote and regional areas by covering transportation and accommodation costs during the trial.
