Assessing Your Claim
Your claim is allocated to a Claims Officer to assess it and provide support during your recovery. The time needed to assess your claim will depend on the complexity of the crash and severity of the injury.
You don’t need to wait until your claim is fully assessed to have treatment paid for. Your claims officer will let you know which treatment can be accessed straight away and paid by us.
To assess your claim, your claims officer will:
- Determine who is at fault by reviewing:
- Online Crash Report forms from all involved parties
- Witness statements
- police reports
- camera footage
- Identify the type and severity of injury
- Review doctor/hospital reports.
To help them understand what has happened, they may ask you for more information. In some cases, they will employ an investigator to collect information.
Once they consider all the information, they will either approve or deny your claim and inform you in writing. If approved, they will advise what treatment you can access. While you recover, they will continue to check in to see how your treatment is going and what support you need.
DID YOU KNOW?
It is a criminal offence to provide false or misleading statements and information on an insurance claim.
People who make false insurance claims or exaggerate the extent of injuries on their claims defraud the Insurance Commission and increase the cost of insurance for all Western Australian motorists.
