How the Insurance Commission is safeguarding data.
Cyber security is a priority for us.
Here are just a few of the ways we are making sure our systems and data are not vulnerable:
- We have a dedicated team to manage and deliver cyber security.
- All systems are password protected and where possible, two-factor authentication is activated.
- Security and defence-penetration tests are conducted regularly.
- Cyber security training is provided to all staff, not just the IT teams.
- A robust email filtering system to reduce the risk of phishing emails.

Here are some items to be aware of:
- EMAIL & SMS:
- We do send safe and secure emails and SMS messages to our claimants, as well as written letters. If you are unsure if a communication is from the Insurance Commission, you can call us to check.
- PHONE CALLS:
- Remember, we will never "cold call" you. That is, call you 'out of the blue'. We will only contact you if we know you have been in a crash or have a current claim with us. This will generally occur AFTER you have made a claim or reported a crash.
- We will NOT call you to recommend any particular medical or legal services.
- If someone calls you and says they are from the Insurance Commission and you have NOT made a claim or reported a crash, DO NOT give the caller your personal details.
Need to tell us about a suspect email/call or data breach?
- Select the option "REPORT A SUSPICIOUS EMAIL/CALL OR DATA BREACH" from the options within the Contact Us form.
- Go to the Contact Us form here.
