Claims process for service providers
Medical and allied health providers.
What to expect | How to get paid | Tips to share with your patients.
STEP 1
 | Provide treatment Your patient presents with an injury caused by a car crash or work place injury.
Yes! You can provide treatment. Your patient can choose their own treatment providers. They do not need to wait until after making a claim, to get treatment.
If the injury was caused by a work place accident, please provide your patient with a completed First Certificate of Capacity (Med cert).

STEP 2 |
Get paid fast Use your HICAPS terminal or online portal (formerly LanternPay) for payment at the time of appointment. Your patient has a TREATMENT NUMBER for approved treatments. The treatment number is provided to your patient by SMS and or email, which they may have saved as a Digital Claiming Card on their smart-phone. Read more here.
Alternatively If your patient has not yet made a claim or you do not have HICAPS (either portal or terminal) you can submit an invoice to us for payment. You can read how, at the same link and scroll down. |
STEP 3
 |
Claim information Your patient does not need a lawyer to make their initial report to the Insurance Commission.
For a car crash injury, they can report online here: https://www.crashreport.com.au/ocrf/
The Insurance Commission covers WA public sector employees' workers compensation. They make a claim via their employer. Read more.
