Fraud is unacceptable and will be vigorously investigated and prosecuted.

The Insurance Commission of WA strives to ensure that Compulsory Third Party Insurance premiums are maintained at an affordable level for all Western Australian motorists.

The diligence and determination of the staff of the Compulsory Third Party and Special Investigation Divisions has seen this objective progressed with the recent conviction of a nurse who was charged with submitting accounts for service she had not provided, in caring for a catastrophically injured motor vehicle crash victim.

It is the continued alertness, persistence and dedication of our employees in investigating instances of improper conduct that enables the Insurance Commission to pursue prosecutions and ensure that Western Australian motorists' monies are applied for the benefit of people injured in motor vehicle crashes and not to advantage those who may be tempted to defraud the system.

The Insurance Commission will maintain its vigilance and will continue to investigate and where appropriate, refer matters involving dishonest or fraudulent conduct to the WA Police for prosecution, in our endeavours to ensure that Western Australian motorists continue to have the most affordable Compulsory Third Party Insurance scheme in the nation.
